Charlotte Minty founded her eponymous Wellington-based interior design and architectural design practice in 2003.

CMID was established with the belief in the merger of beauty, harmony and functional performance. Classic, yet modern with a feeling of freshness and calm neatly captures the practice’s design aesthetic.

For a number of years, Charlotte operated as a sole practitioner. In 2020, she expanded CMID by adding new team members to meet an ever-increasing project workload.

From its Tory Street office, CMID integrates innovative interior architectural design and inspired interior design for residential and commercial projects.

Managing projects from start to finish, the practice works closely with architects and stable of expert contractors to deliver positive experiences and outcomes for clients. Building and nurturing first-rate client relations is a core value of the business.

CMID has a proven track record of designing a variety of quality living spaces, including kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms. Bringing new life and utility to office and retail spaces is also a feature of Charlotte’s work.

Charlotte and her team offer a broad range of skills and experience, including developing master plans for residential and commercial projects. They also source and select furniture, soft furnishings, finishings, lighting, rugs, paint colour schemes, and textiles.

Collaborating with experienced manufacturers, CMID also designs and manages the construction of bespoke joinery, furniture and upholstery to meet the needs of any project.

The practice’s styling services include procuring and curating artwork, artefacts and accessories to add ideal finishing touches to a home or professional environment.

 
Where necessary, CMID engages in interior architecture to alter the bones and complexion of a space. In this kitchen project - now on display on the portfolio page of the CMID website - we worked with engineers to remove walls, take down a prominent
In this CMID project, we used these finger mosaic tiles as a subtle contrast to the kitchen’s blue/grey colour palette. The graphic nature and clean lines of the tiles draw the eye and are a nod to mid-century - which suits the house so well.
